The cattle farmers aren’t allowed to use growth hormones or antibiotics to increase milk production.

Studies have shown organic milk is richer in micronutrients than ordinary milk. Reviews suggest that farming practices that allow cows to graze and forage are responsible for organic milk’s improved fatty acid content. Furthermore, organic milk has lower levels of iodine and selenium, which are vital for thyroid health. 

Nowadays, there is a trend for fat-free milk in India, especially among upper-middle and higher-class people. However, conventional milk has fewer calories, protein and saturated fat than organic milk. However, organic and conventional milk has almost similar levels of calcium, potassium, and sodium, the essential minerals.

Why Fresh Organic Milk Cost More than the Regular Milk?

One of the reasons organic milk sells at a higher price is that the cost of production of organic milk is more than that of regular milk. Moreover, since it caters to an exclusive society group, the manufacturers usually keep a much higher margin on organic milk. Another contributing factor to the price premium is the supply versus demand mismatch.

The rules for getting government certification are stringent, and it takes a long time to complete the certification process to become an organic milk producer.

Moreover, there has been a steep increase in organic feed prices, impacting the final price of organic milk, especially when demand continues to rise. 

With organic milk, an accountability system is nonexistent with regular milk. Fresh fresh milk is procured straight from the farms to your dining table; hence, it retains nutrients.

On the contrary, conventional milk goes through multiple steps before it reaches your home, resulting in a loss of its freshness as well as nutritional value. Regular milk is also fortified to enhance its nutritional value, making it difficult to digest. In fact, organic milk usually contains more than 17 micronutrients and is devoid of pasteurization. It helps the milk retain most of its natural nutrients, such as Vitamin B12, Vitamin A, and Omega-3 fatty acids. 

Why health conscious people prefer organic milk?

The research shows that compared to ordinary milk, organic milk has a higher amount of iron and vitamin E. Besides, it’s also richer in omega-3 and omega-6, which are polyunsaturated fatty acids. These micronutrients are crucial for brain function, eyesight, and children’s growth and development.

Organic and fresh milk contains a comparatively higher amount of antioxidants that boost the immune system helping fight illnesses and reducing the risk of lifestyle diseases. It helps prevent and slow down cell damage caused by free radicals. 

However, the most important reason for preferring fresh organic milk over the ordinary milk is that people now opt for a healthy and holistic lifestyle. We live in a time when lifestyle diseases have become rampant with ailments such as hypertension, diabetes, and depression. Therefore, fresh organic milk has become necessary to remain fit and healthy.
