How to Draw A Toad
Step 1
In this foremost step of our direction on how to draw a toad, we intention start with the toad’s head. First, you start with the eyes of the toad.
The one on the right is a near-perfect circle, and inside is a shape with a flat base with a rounded part in the middle.
So there will be a curved line on it. The other eye is a slightly flatter circle with a similar shape inside.
This will also have a round line around it like the first one. Finally, you can use a curved line that extends down to shape the frog’s mouth.
Step 2
Now that you’ve started to outline the body of the toad, you can proceed to outline the body.
First, you can draw the footing of the leader with a sharply curved stripe. This creates a rounded line for the toad’s belly.
Finally, you can use another curved stripe for the toad’s back to complete this step.
Step 3
Toads have small feet and webbed paws, and we will draw the former in this step of our how-to-draw a toad guide.
This first leg goes to the left, and the leg part is drawn with some angular lines. So the feet are drawn with three short toes with a rounded shape at the end of each.
That’s all for this step, and you’re good to go!
Step 4
In this part of your toad illustration, we will add several elements. First, you can draw another leg, which will be to our right at this moment. It will look comparable to the other, except it’s a little thinner due to the angle.
Next, draw a curved line under the frog’s mouth to show that the mouth is open. You can also add a language there. Finally, finish this step with some stitches for the nose. Now that these have been added, the next step is for us to add a few final details!
Step 5
We’ll add some final details in this step of our how-to draw a toad guide! With these final details, you can colorize your drawing for the next step.
First, you can use a curved line along your tummy, as shown in our reference image. Then you can finish drawing the curve of the back leg. Finally, you can draw some dots on the frog’s back for more detail.
This is enough for the details in this guide, but add any you want before proceeding!
You could draw a background or add other woodland creatures to hang out with your toad.
Step 6
This is the last step of your toad drawing! You’ve worked hard on this picture, and now you can relax with some coloring fun. In our sample image, we used shades of green and yellow for our toad, but these colors are just suggestions.
Toads come in many colors and patterns, so feel free to use any colors to complete this design.
You could keep the colors darker and more muted for an approach or make this toad pop with color! Remember that you can also add some color by filling in the background.
Once you know what colors to choose, feel free to play around with your favorite art mediums and tools too!
If you want a lighter image, you can use crayons, markers, or acrylic paint to create this look.
If you’re thinking of a darker color scheme, you can use watercolors, colored pencils, and pastels for suggestions.
